I’m a NC-based Early Intervention Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) taking time off to be home with our one year old.
People ask me if I think it’s harder being a working mom or staying at home. I know the “right” answer- the one they want me to say- is staying at home. But let me be honest- if I were working I’d still be doing all of the same things, just in a smaller time frame! My wonderful husband would help of course, but I’d end up doing the brunt of the household work, because that’s how I am. So I am grateful to be able to stay home with our little guy…and although it’s far from easy, I know for our family, this is the right fit for right now!
I have to admit, I do miss my speech families and I’m hoping to share my knowledge and expertise as an early intervention SLP with other clinicians and families interested in language development, feeding, speech sound acquisition, mom life, and the crazy things we SLPs do when left to our own devices!
